Where oh where does it go?

Loving some graphic wallpaper right now.  I would like to incorporate this into my condo, but I'm stuck on where it would go.

If I had a hall bath, I would definitely do this but both of my bathrooms have too many cut-ins.

B-I-G graphic print!

Removable wallpaper.  Why did I not know about this sooner?

I still can't get this print out of my head.  Will it make it to my kitchen?

There seems to be a reoccurring color scheme....

High Expectations

Today, I was soo hoping to post pictures of my newly finished floor, but I think my expectations were a little too high (and in typical DIY fashion, the project is lasting longer than expected).  I would guess-timate the floor will be finished on Wednesday.  The padres are finishing up, while I'm at work.  Have I told you how great they are?!

Since I don't have pictures of my place, I thought I would wonder over to http://www.georgiamls.com/ and do a little day dreaming.  This GORGEOUS house is within 2 miles of my little abode....oh what different lives we led.

To me the artwork above the fireplace reads as one large piece (it might be b/c I have awful eyes) but it is actually four different canvases.

Kitchen with the family room attached.

Master bedroom with drop down project screen....yes.  Loving everything except the black projector in the middle of the white ceiling.

This was the only picture of the master bathroom, but it looks like it is just my style!

And the little girl's room...looks like the headboards might just be stencils on the wall?

How pretty was that?  If you are in the market, it is listed at $3,950,000 with 6 bedrooms, 5-1/2 baths.  The home was designed by Bobby McAlpine and built by Bonner Construction.

Craz for the Blaze(r)

Haha.  Yes, the title of the post was corny, but I couldn't help myself.

As we all know, fall is just around the corner, so today I decided to sport a blazer.  Wait, What....it is too early for a blazer?  Really, the high today is only 92 degrees.  Whatev.  I'm just getting ready for this upcoming (football) season.  And in honor of it, I am going to share some of my favorite blazers.

I think it is about time I had a velvet blazer in my closet.  Not the old school black, something with color.  Possibly orange, but I think a deep emerald green color would be sooo pretty.  This style also comes in houndstooth, which looks great too.

The tuxedo look....Nice.

 Bright colored blazer.....yes, please.

Loving the elbow patches and it is only $40!  I will be making a trip to H&M to see what this little number is all about.

Definitely going to H&M.....$60 bucks.

Craig's List of Goodies

Today while perusing the lovely list complied by good ol' Craig, I found some great pieces.  SOME of the items listed have excellent prices; some don't.  Maybe some will strike your fancy, because I think I need more space before I buy anything else.  My father recently told me I have wayyy too many things for a single girl.  Me?  Never.  Although, that would explain why I have a storage unit.....

The price for all five paintings is $100!  Can't beat that!

Check out this white faux bamboo china cabinet.  Love me some faux bamboo.  The listing doesn't say how much she is asking, but it doesn't say 50%.  She has everything at a booth and everything is under $300, so I'm guessing $150 for the cabinet.  Awesome deal.

Paint this beauty up and you are good to go!  $99.00

Not a deal with a price tag of $400, but it is oh, so pretty.

Again, not a good price point for me at $250.  But it is gorg, and I couldn't not put it up here.  Yeah yeah, double negative.  Whatev.

From this posting, have you realized my love for most all things faux bamboo?  Yeah, I thought so.

Any items that you see are too good to pass up?

Ahead of myself

I'm already planning my next project (ya know, after the flooring is replaced)....I might be getting ahead of myself or maybe I'm just being proactive.  But I guess you have to do things to be proactive, so it looks like I'm just putting the horse before the cart or carriage.  I can't remember which one it is.  Oh well.

Next project:  Kitchen Redo

The kitchen looks something like this.....

(picture was taken before I moved in)

Of course now there are things (containers, cook books, etc.) all over the counters, a rug taking up the whole floor, and a picture leaning against the back wall.  Decorating at its finest.

Here are my plans for the space:

- remove popcorn ceiling (happened before I moved in.  thank goodness.)
- replace flooring (happening this weekend!)
- replace appliances (aka get rid of that awful looking stove)
- replace light fixture (no thank you on the florescent strip lighting)
- replace counter tops & sink
- remove upper cabinets on left side and replace with shelves
- remove microwave from above the stove and place on a shelf on the left side of the kitchen
- replace cabinet hardware
- enlarge the opening on left side of kitchen, which looks into living room
- paint walls!  how could I forget?!
- paint bottom cabinets....really excited to see how this turns out.
- possibly remove the wine rack above the frig that I will probably never use, but then what could I put there?

Here are some of my inspiration photos.

(found on pinterest but originally from BHG)
Loving the shelves and back splash.

Darker lower cabinets, white upper cabinets.

Microwave on upper shelving

And here are some tiny galley kitchens with S-T-Y-L-E.  These pictures are reassurance that it is possible to turn a tiny space into fabulousness.  I hope mine will look half as good as these.

If only I had pretty copper pots to display...

This picture is of interior designer Michael Penney's kitchen.  The rest of his house is just as cute!  Go here to see that and his write-ups at Canadian House & Home.

I don't know why but I am drawn to this kitchen.  It is just lovely.

Wallpaper = love. love. love.

I don't know if you can ever go wrong with black and white.  Classic.

My litte place

A few months ago I purchased a condo in Atlanta......a sweet little 970 square foot, 2 bed, 2 bath condo that needs some work.  I have unpacked, but to say that have settled in would be a complete exaggeration.  I have been out of town a lot, but my excuses of not getting this place decorated are getting lame (even for me).  This up-coming weekend, my parents (God love them) and I will be replacing the carpeting in the main living areas with hard-wood-look-a-like-laminate flooring.  I can't wait to see the transformation!  If you are wondering why I didn't go with real hard wood floors, well that's three fold....1) Hard wood flooring is quite a bit more expensive then laminate flooring; 2) we got this flooring at a song!; and 3) I am thinking I will be in this place for two or three years and after that I would like to rent this place out (and don't want to worry about the next person scratching the nice hard wood floors all to hell).  Hopefully, the flooring re-do will be just the beginning of my projects, and in an attempt to be somewhat accountable for my non-decorated-condo, I am going to post pictures.  Here are some picture of the place before I moved in.

When you step in the front door, the kitchen is on your right.  Lots of work planned in here!

The living room is a couple steps beyond the kitchen if you walk straight once you enter the condo.

This picture is if you look to your left once you walk in the front door.  Laundry closet on your left, coat closet on your right, and the guest bath is straight ahead, which opens to the guest bed, as well.

If you walk into the living room and to the right, this is a picture of the master bedroom.  If you turn around the picture below is a shot of the vanity area on your way to the master bath.

2nd Bedroom

Since these pictures were taken I have had the popcorn ceilings removed, gotten a new AC unit, changed a few light fixtures, and painted (even though I haven't finished one room...like I said, lame excuses).   Hopefully, I will have more pictures to show of the updated flooring!  So excited!

I've finally come around

Dear Gingham,

I'm sorry I haven't committed before now.  I would always try you on, but you never made the cut.  I apologize and hope you will forgive me.

Sincerely,
Dara
